As Executive Director of KD-Public Relations, I believe that effective communication strategies are the keys to building strong relationships with your community, public and Stakeholders. Ethical practices, birthed from the core of who I am as a person, are part of every project produced.
Whether you need to communicate with the media, your customers, or your employees, I can help you craft the right message, delivering it in the most effective way possible.
The voices of hope, my tagline, came from the years spent with Certified Peer Support Specialists, who are living their lives instilling hope into others, due to the lived experiences of once being in similar, dark places. This is why I am the way I am, and this is my core mission behind my company: To bring the Voice of Hope to all we encounter.

Not every day ends with a beautiful sunset. Sometimes situations happen that are beyond our control, and we just do not know what to do to manage these challenging circumstances. Crises can happen in an instance. Utilizing psychological and mental health approaches, you and I will work together creating a plan that not only gets you through the crisis(es), but also helps prepare for future possible pitfalls. Going through business/personal crises does not have to be your end story. Let's prepare for this together, so that your sunsets look like this one more often.
Getting Media coverage is not the easiest challenge to overcome. One has to be well-skilled in what counts as "Newsworthy" versus subject matter that is not. When Jo Jorgensen announced she was not going to make it to Jackson, MS, the day prior, due to being bitten by a bat, Mass Media outlets picked up on the story alerting the public. As Volunteer Coordiantor for this Campaign, I learned the following morning she was actually going to make it, so I immediately called all the news stations I could in the Metro-Jackson and Hattiesburg areas, alerting them of this change. I knew what needed to be done, so I took action, resulting in several journalists getting a story that still encompasses Google to this day.
Hi there, my name is Katherine. I am KatThePRPrac. If we haven't met, please allow me to formally introduce myself:
Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, I am a Cajun-blooded Mississippi girl, raised in Ellisville, Mississippi, as an only child by a single mother, until she remarried in 1986 to a man who became my dad, both by marriage and then adoption.
I married in 1999, had two beautiful children, and by the time I was in my 30's I found myself divorced, homeless, living with my best friend, raising two children who were facing mental health challenges.
Graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2015 was a dream come true. As a single mother who was struggling in crisis of raising her two children, I became quite familiar with our Mississippi systems, including Medicaid, TANF, SNAP, and our public educational systems. Coming out of homelessness and domestic violence led me to launch my agency with the desires of meeting the needs of others.
Since that time I have had the esteemed privileges of managing several campaigns, overseeing publications, and shooting photography with some of the most amazing "shooters" in Mississippi. The most recent PR Campaign, taking place in Natchez, MS, through Southwest MS Mental Health Complex and the City of Natchez, reforming the Mayor's Mental Health Task Force, is the most interesting, exciting Campaign to date. Keep your eyes peeled, this is the BEST.CAMPAIGN.YET!

Throughout my years in this field I have had to work extremely hard on my own reputation management. Doing so has afforded me the opportunities to represent several clients in Mississippi, ranging from real estate agents, to automotive, to aviation builders. Reputation Management is just one of the many services I offer. Set up a call TODAY to learn how we can manage your Campaign together!
Earned media, not purchased, is the bread and butter of every PR Campaign. We need to find ways to make YOUR BRAND stand out so much that the media is asking to represent your organization's' missions and vision.
Are you ready to grow?
Randy Swan, Doug Morris, Lici Beveridge, Blair Ledet, Mon Mussiet, Mike McDaniel, and so many other amazing media specialists have been at the helm, covering stories for clients we have been able to represent. They are the reasons the public has been made aware of the information distributed. We are now all friends. This is not something taken lightly. If the story is not news worthy I am not sending it to them.
Are you curious to learn if your story will be able to earn media coverage? Send me a message, and let's see!
